In 1995 I began to seriously put brushes to
canvas. Lacking the finances and tolerance for "institutions" I begged,
borrowed and stole both the tools and knowledge to begin.
Trying different mediums only to keep
coming back to oils. They lend such integrity to the work. For me the
oils demand "NO FEAR."
Not
so much the finished product while I am in the painting as the gift of
peacefulness while there.
Never any company, never alone. I'll put
the GONE FISHING or WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION sign on the studio door,
turn up the music, open the windows, step into the attic of my soul, and
P-A-I-N-T!
I dig dumpster diving in the cities.
Finding lost objects to paint on.
I really dig working my ass off getting
ready for shows. It's all about the RACE, the CHALLENGE.
I've shown in countless bars and coffee
shops in Seattle, WA. Black Dog Gallery, outdoor events and private
parties. Worked fairs along the West Coast. Opened my studio doors to
the public and currently showing at Two Vaults Gallery in Tacoma. Been
mentioned in Art Access, The Stranger, some Belltown
rag, Volcano, and Tacoma News Tribune. Got my picture on
the cover of U.K.'s Kindred Spirit magazine. Taught life-casting
workshops at Two Vaults and chalked streets and painted buildings with
children in Mexico.
I want my finished work to illuminate
(you know, make the world a better place to live). To go beyond the
senses. All the folks who live, work or play with my art are able to
look the devil right in the face and smile. That's the story and that's
the glory!
