You probably heard Paula long before she became the owner of Two Vaults Studio/Gallery.
She has been performing in and around the Pacific northwest for more than 30
years, as Iris Hill, Cookie Irene, The Peece Band, Freefall, Icarus, and
Alexys, her first pseudonym.
When she was 15 she recorded for Dot Records under
that name and had the Cashbox top 100 hit "Freedom's Child."
Her 15 minutes of
fame had her performing with The Beach Boys, Jeff Beck and the Yardbirds, and
many others.
The excitement of near celebrityship was over by the time she was
16, but that certainly didn't mean that music would go the wayside.
Paula's personal music history lets one know that she was bound to
music as an integral part of who she would be.
Her mother
Bonnie Guitar was
producer of the Fleetwoods, known for their hits "Come softly to me," and "Mr. Blue," and also for her own million seller
"Dark Moon."
Paula's
Dad,
Paul Tutmarc, Sr. is the inventor of the pickup for use on electric
guitars and basses, and inventor of the first electric bass.
Find out more about Bonnie and Paul at the
Experience Music Project, where Paul
will be found in The Guitar Gallery, and Bonnie along The Northwest Passage.
Paula went from Dot to Four Star Records, to Reprise.
After many singles and
2 albums, Paula took time out to raise her family and pursue a second career in
art galleries and custom art framing, but she never lost her inspiration to write and record.
Finally the decision to record all original work came to the forefront and the
Souls CD was born, after 3 summers of European travel, which brought the
influence of the Eastern European gypsy styles and the South American bossanova
to her work.
The newest CD is Nomad Heart.
Both CDs were done in the beautiful
David Lange Studios, with the finest musicians the
Northwest has to offer.
So go
ahead and sample this new music by a true Northwest original.
